In the modern era, air travel is super common and so ESL students will naturally want to know how to talk about it. The thing is that many of these words are not naturally occurring in our daily life. You can’t point to a part of the classroom and explain “checking in” or “security.”
When I taught my Chinese ESL students about airports, I made this PPT in order to explain everything for them. It uses some pictures that make it very clear what is being referred to. You can feel free to download it and use it in your classroom.
This PPT offers some great ESL airport vocabulary for intermediate English learners. It works very well for introducing important language in the following areas:
- at the airport
- on the airplane
- people who work there
- what you must remember (ie passport and boarding pass)
